The Company: Norse Log Homes pre-builds the log work phase of our natural log homes on our industrial construction site located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This enables us to keep prices down, maintain quality control and to erect buildings on difficult sites in a minimum amount of time and without undue environmental damage.
Our Logs: We use select West Coast grown Douglas fir with an average diameter of 12 to 14 inches. Our logs are peeled using the traditional draw knife method. Then scribe fitted using the Scandinavian style of round notch and lateral groove construction. This method should not be confused with machined log homes.
Construction Options:
Phase I Log Work Only: All log work pre-built on our industrial construction yard, delivered and re-erected on your subfloor with door and window openings cut. Logs prepared for roof framing and gable ends supplied and installed if applicable. Phase I costs are normally $14.00 - $30.00 sq.ft.
Phase II Lock Up: Phase II is similar to Turn Key discussed below omitting: Plumbing, Wiring, Heating, Carpets, Cabinets, Partition Walls and Ceiling finish. We are very flexible as to your desired degree of involvement in this stage. Phase II costs are normally $50.00 - $60.00 sq.ft. (Popular for summer and retirement homes. We do the heavy work and you put on the finishing touches.)
Turn Key: Completely finished, ready for occupancy. All you need to supply is a local fully serviced lot, (water/power connections). Cost at present is approx. $80.00 - $100.00 sq.ft. depending on location, design and finishing tastes. We also provide a complete custom design service which can convert your sketch into construction blueprints for only $0.65 sq.ft., Canadian funds. This cost can later be deducted from your quoted price.
