Who We Are: We are a construction company that specializes in using large, structural timber, joined using time proven traditional joinery techniques. Nails and other metal fasteners are seldom used for anything except hanging pictures on the wall. We treat building frames as if they are large pieces of furniture that will be on public display and which will be cherished family heirlooms for generations to come. When we build something, we fully intend that it will last for generations and that it will some day be a candidate for a historical register.
What We Do: What do we do? We build timber frames of course but we do a great deal more than that. Within the local area of San Antonio, Texas we will act as a general contractor and handle a project from its inception through to its completion and hand the keys over to a new owner. We do not insist on acting as the general contractor, however. We will gladly work as a sub-contractor and build just the timber frame or handle any portion of a construction project that the owner wants us to.
We will travel anywhere in the world to erect a timber frame and clad it in stress skin panels. Hence our motto "Have Chisel, Will Travel". Whether you want a house in San Antonio, a bungalow in the Caribbean or a (well insulated) hide-away in the Himalayas we would be happy (ecstatic in Hawaii) to put up the frame and panels. We offer a full range of design services for all of your design needs: architectural or engineering, but we don't insist on doing the work ourselves. We will be glad to consult with the architect or engineer of your choice.
Another facet of our work is the design and construction of timber trusses. We will build frames to your specifications, or design them ourselves, and ship them anywhere in the world. We work on projects of all sizes. Most of our projects are custom designed homes but we do other things as well. To date our smallest "building" was an outhouse. It a was very nice outhouse (two stalls - no waiting, air conditioning, hot and cold water, 40-acre lawn) but it was still an outhouse. We also do commercial and religious structures. Churches are our favorites.
