Colorado LogSystems features 10" cedar precut single tongue and groove logs. Our exclusive Colorado Corner utilizes a unique double mortise and tenon joint. This provides the look of a full interlock corner while retaining the superior structural and air-seal integrity of a mortise and tenon corner.
It serves two purposes: It completes the look of a full corner; and the corner logs form a true interlocking corner for strength, stability, and tightness against air and water penetration.
Why Cedar: Colorado LogSystems' wood choice is cedar. Cedar has less checking, settling, and shrinking than the common pine, spruce, and whitewoods. Cedar is known for its beauty and durability. Cedar is also naturally resistant to insects, rot, and decay. You will have to treat the outside for water and ultraviolet, but you will not have to treat cedar with pesticides. We are able to offer competitive prices in cedar due to volume buying, and we sell factory-direct only. There are no extra commissions to pay. Wood cost to wood cost cedar should be approximately 10% more that pine.
Our primary cedar cut is 10" high and 8" wide. We also cut a precut cedar log 10" high and 6" wide. The 8" wide log has a contour profile on both side with the shape of a parentheses( ). The 6" wide has a flat profile on both sides.
Log Options: Colorado LogSystems also provides a handhewn profile, which is literally hand drawknifed for a rustic appearance.
Pre Cut Logs: Precut logs are cut according to your specific plan to the appropriate lengths. There is no waste of log material. This compares to random length logs which arrive in various, or all 10 ft. for example, lengths, and then have to be cut by hand on site to match the door, window, and corner plans.
A typical 1500-2000 sq ft. precut log home can be stacked to the first floor height in 2-3 days. A random length stack can easily take 7-10 days to 3-4 weeks. The precision cutting of a precut house and the savings in labor for stack time will far outweigh the cost for having a quality log company precut your log home.
