Daniel Reagan started timber framing in 1978. His love of wood led to an honours degree in construction technology. Kimberley Reagan learned woodworking at a young age from her grandfather, which sparked her life-long interest in wood craft. Together they spent a year in Nagano, Japan, where Daniel apprenticed, studied timber framing, and wrote his thesis comparing Japanese and American styles of timber framing. This experience, and years of hands-on timber framing and traditional joinery, ensure quality workmanship and a dedication to the historical craft of timber framing.
Dan is a collector of 'special' pieces of wood that are often incorporated into our clients' timber frame projects at their request. These pieces include carvings, arches, and even ship's knees. Over the years we have developed a unique relationship with loggers who will locate additional special pieces.
We have built our company on four principles:
Honesty
Quality
Customer Service
Enjoyment of Life and Work
We constantly strive to offer our clients the finest in design, craftsmanship, and personalized attention.
Concern for Our Environment When we mill our own logs we utilize every part of the tree. After milling, scraps become firewood and wood shavings are composted for gardens or provide livestock bedding. New trees are planted on our own lands to replace the ones that have been used. These will be planted in your name.
Acorn Timber Frames have won International awards for their design.
