Our "Energy Log" construction system is designed to offer the authentic appearance of a full-log home, along with the ultimate in energy efficiency. Inherent issues associated with full-log construction such as warping, twisting and settling are eliminated with this construction. The exterior wall system consists of a 2"x6" framed wall, vapor barrier, 6" fiberglass insulation, 1" foil faced sheathing and a choice of exterior finish (half-log, colonial log, cedar siding, etc.).
Half-log packages are available in our "Saddle-Lok", "Cross-Lok" & "Verti-Lok" corner systems. Mixtures of these are also common on many homes. All logs used in these systems are hand hewn, dip treated twice and air dried. For a more "contemporary" appearance. Colonial Log, Wavy Edge Cedar and Conventional Cedar siding are available.
Another advantage of "Energy Log" construction is the flexibility of interior finish. A variety of options are available to give your log home its own distinctive appearance. Options may include: interior log, rustic beam, cedar, knotty pine, wainscot, drywall or any combination you prefer.
The roof may consist of normal trusses, scissor trusses, or a 2"x14" rafter system depending on the size and style of your home. Hand framed cathedral ceilings include proper vent, 12" of fiberglass insulation, 5/8" CDX plywood, 15 lb. felt, fiberglass or asphalt shingles with continuos ridge and soffit vents.
Standard windows included are double hung, double glazed, low-E and argon glass with storm/screen and wood grill combination. They are wood insulated with a maintenance free aluminum clad exterior. Casements, awnings, picture units, bows, bays, trapezoids, roundtops, and slidebys are also available. Swingset or sliding patio, as well as insulated steel entry doors are included in a standard material package. Also included are 3/4" plywood subfloor, floor joists and bridging.
