Fractional Ownership Log Homes in the Wisconsin Northwoods
Pinestone Crossing is a fractional ownership log home community located in the Wisconsin Northwoods. When you purchase a share you receive five weeks/year access to a log home that is decorated and maintained. You also can watch your share grow in equity while you use it.
Pinestone Crossing is a new development that promotes fractional or shared ownership of log homes in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Fractional ownership allows families to purchase access to a vacation property without the large capital expense and maintenance issues associated with the exclusive purchase of a second home.
Fractional ownership allows families the opportunity to purchase 1/10th of a beautiful log home including all furnishings and shared use of the land. They get access five weeks a year to the log home; one in each of the seasons and a floating week. The summer week will always remain the same while the other weeks are picked through a lottery system each year. Fractional ownership is different than timeshare in that you actually own part of the property and have input into how it is used.
There are three log homes and two distinct designs to choose from at the Pinestone Crossing development. The site includes 26 acres of wooded land, 700 feet of lake frontage, swimming areas, boat dock and campfire area. Pinestone Crossing is located 3 miles west of Land O’Lakes, WI in the Wisconsin Northwoods. It is close to many outdoor activities including golf courses, excellent fishing, skiing and snowmobiling.
The development is expected to start construction in the spring 2005 based on a specified number of pre sold unit commitments with occupancy by fall 2005. Shares start at $49,500 with limited pre build specials available to the first five buyers. Each log home will be decorated with in a traditional rustic décor, new kitchen appliances, linens, towels, etc. There will be a maintenance fee for each share that will pay for cleaning each week, utilities, taxes and general maintenance.
The development was conceived by the developer Bruce Moncrieff who has owned a fractional ownership cottage in Canada for several years. “I wanted to find a location in the Wisconsin Northwoods that would allow me to be on lake and close to nature. I think the Pinestone Crossing site is ideal for people who enjoy the outdoors and want as well as the comforts that go along with a owning a traditional log home. That’s why I’m the first person to buy a share” says Bruce Moncrieff.

CorrectionsThe “Living In” article last Sunday, about Lawrence, N.Y., misspelled the surname of the village’s mayor. He is Dr. Jack Levenbrown, not Levenbrun.
The $38,500 ClosetNew Yorkers strapped for storage space are only too happy to pay for more, and co-op and condo boards relish the extra income they can generate by installing storage units or renting unused utility closets.

Q & A: Is This Rent Legal?I suspect the rent I was charged when I moved into my rent-stabilized apartment had been raised beyond what the law allows. How do I research this matter?
